I have Comcast high speed internet right now and it goes down at least a couple times a week. Today I lost it from 1:30 to 4PM. Right when we had a couple dozen shipping labels qued up for printing. Major PITA.

Just curious if the other common services are any better? DSL maybe? Satalite? Do I need a T1 line?

I have the combo internet/tv package.

DSL is like dial up and can be more expenisive.... I never had a prblem with comcast... it might lag at some points and I really dont know if you can get a T1 line dont even know who you would talk to....

check with your local cable company and get cable from them. roadrunner.

DSL is ok if you don't have everyone in your neighborhood on it. The base DSL is like triple ISDN speed. You have to upgrade to the max package usually to get cable speeds. Sat net sucks balls. You have to use dialup to connect to it and only the downstream is somewhat speedy. More like DSL on downers. Upstream is dialup speed.
T1 is nice if you can afford it. I can get a T1 account here for a mere $600/month. But then you have to figure in the amount of having the line installed from the area hub to your house. Last time I checked on this they wanted $150/linear yard laid at a one time charge. Distance was 3 miles.

See if there are companies in your area that are selling dedicated cable insternet packages. We have one company here that is doing that and while it is twice as much as the roadrunner here, they install a fiber optic line to your house that is dedicated for internet use. No upcharge for the installation.

Mark, I have cable broadband internet through Comcast right now. I called them today when everything went out and they said it was a "large scale outage". They suggested I upgrade to a business high speed service, which is on a different network. I wonder what that will cost???!!!!

I use SBC/ATT DSL and I've never had a problem in 4 years. Of course I'm in SoCal.
Right now I'm getting 301.5 KB/sec down and 53.5 KB/sec up.

Im not sure what it would cost for biz upgrade but i do know its like twice the bandwidth..

George,

The difference between business and regular comcast is how much bandwidth you want to purchase. I would call their business office and inquire. I use to have a t-1 line and when they moved everyone to their home I checked with the cable company (roadrunner) and they had several "business" packages available depending on your bandwidth needs, etc. I know the T-1 was more reliable by far.
