I like the Seymour Duncan classic stacks for a more SRV tone. But, although I'm not a big Dimarzio fan, I love the Virtual Blues in the neck and Mid position and a Virtual Heavy Blues in the bridge. I have 2 strats with Dimarzios and one with S.D.'s The dimarzio's cover just about all ground in my opinion.

77

Malmsteen uses his signature Dimarzio's in the bridge and neck and I forget what's in the mid, but I think it is either a stock fender or a Dimarzio.

I know I give Yngwie308 alot of greef on here but you know when he's right he's right.. Yngwie has the groove and the tone I wish to pursue.. so I m going to go with the YJM and HS3 for my strat ... heres the skinny..

Dave I take it all back my Bad..... :D

You might not realize it from his music, but Yngwie Malmsteen is a vintage Strat

Jerry,sorry I missed your post!lol!
Yes you know that Yngwie uses DiMarzio, but not their covers, substituting the original seventies covers.
Hopefully I will convince Yngwie to sell all his 50 watt Mark II's on Ebay, and buy 20 of George's new 50 watters, whatcha think are my chances?
Loving my YJM 308 analogman modded pedal, ever notice that on the keyboard the letters Y J M are linked from top to bottom, coincidence,I think not,
It is all a part of the Vallhala Voodoo, that rules the Kingdom of Shreddom.
The lower output type DiMarzios is a one trick pony, requiring a dimed Marshall, spanked by the DOD250 type pedal,I think they have a nice Hendrixy, clean sound!
I love it when people post,I get the Yngwie tone, with my Behringer 10 watt solid state practice amp,and my Squier Strat, with noiseless pickups, and a Bad Monkey overdrive!
Regards,
Yngwie308, your buddy

Yngwie308, your buddy, you know I like a good joke as much as anybody,
Posting on the Yngwie forums is like shooting fish in a barrel for me.
So I can get my buttons pushed, but that is too negative for me,let's keep it real, have a good one,Y

Nice one Flames   ,I will go to any means necessary for attention!
I couldn't belive I was getting a kind of apology?
I am constantly advertising Metro amps, around the world electronically, and that is my main goal,Yngwie can fend for himself!

Check out the Suhr backplate noiseless system. It's killer and works with any traditional single coils (i.e. a non-RWRP middle pickup) and doesn't change their tone. As long as you have a tremolo strat with a backplate, you should be able to install it.

Yes,
For an overdrive Strat/Marshall tone I like what Yngwie has to offer...
My Cousin' has 2 YJM Strat's ( RW & Maple neck ) with those pickups The Guitars sound great... but... not necessarily in others.
I made a "clone" and didn't think it was as chimey as the YJM's.

I tried the Fender Noiseless and (sorry Andy) they were fired !
I do, though HIGHLY recommend the Official Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Pickup.
In the Fender Frontline Mag it was said that it fooled the purist in a side-by-side comparison with the 50's pickups. Those are the "noisless" the I use...
I also use the DiMarzio Virtual vintage Series and as stated previously by 77,
the Seymour Duncan Classic Strat Stacks are great. Nice and glassy without the noise. (haven't tried the new "Plus" yet?)

Staying outside the realm of boutique these afformentioned pickups are a desireable replacement with that "Straty" appeal !

If you don't like what you hear with the YJM's the these pickups will do you justice.

Keep in mind that I prefer to have amp Gain not pickup gain.
The YJM's have the largest DC Resistance out of any pickup including Humbuckers
Hum Cancelling is good but keep a Stratty tone through the pickups and let your amp do the talkin'
