Glad to see we are back online. I have been MIA for last 2 months trying complete my new recording/rehearsal studio. I thought I would post some pictures of the progress. The main room is brick contruction, 600sq', 9 1/2' ceilings and the seperate control room is 250sq'. Visual monitoring will be done via webcam. Tracking will be done on analog multitracks.

I have built this into my home so I no longer have to travel accross town for rehearsal or recording.


This project has been tricky, the electrical had to be re-done completely and the walls had to be double layer sheetrocked then 1/2" soundboard added, plus double door systems installed etc. I still have more Sonex foam to add to the walls and some painting and caulking. Since the pictures have been taken tracklighting has been added. Not perfect yet but it's coming along.

Was that a theremin next to your stack? An Echoplex on the half stack? Hmmm....Vistalite drums to boot....I hear some Led Zep cranking in that room.

Like the white sparkle kit but I'd be happy with any Bonham set I guess...

A fresh clean smell ouzes from the drywall and carpet ...when you get a new pair of sneakers when you we a kid
you'd scuff 'em up as soon as you put them on and wore them before going to school...
Give that room some vibe & character. Skip the beer spills and cigarette burns and put some killer posters or
some old album covers on the walls and maybe even let your groupies sign the walls, eh? !
Of course having that vintage gear in the room has a nice aroma too!

Yes it is a Theremin....dont forget John Pauls Acoustic 1970 bass cab on the left in the picture. We don't want it to feel left out..LOL

It does smell new alright. I bought some better quality carpet with a pad and had it proffesionally installed so it makes it real nice to play on. Good idea about the posters. I am still not sure wether to add posters or just finish painting and adding foam padding? I do plan on using this place for recording other artist so I want to keep a uniform look. I am also trying to decide wether to build a drum riser or not? I have the materials..4x4's 2x8's.

I do have alot of rare 1950's and 60's horror movie posters that were used in theaters that are pro-framed and would look good on the walls perhaps...titles like "The Mummy" "Horror of Dracula" "Curse of Frankenstein etc, they are 27x41 in size. What do you think?...
