Anyone have a HiDef Projector?

Post by Billy Batz » Thu Oct 19, 2006 7:33 pm

I just bought one. I dont watch much TV so Im keepin an old 32"CRT for that but I was weighing different large LCDs vs projector TVs and just got reckless and bought a Home Theater Projector. Now Im looking at screen options. The paint looks best. Anyone have a projector setup?

I've been thinking of building my own, http://www.popsci.com/popsci/how20/be84 ... drcrd.html, let me know what you find out about screens, how bad would it be to just use a nice white wall (that was my plan).

Ive heard it both ways. One thing Ive read is that light grey is supposed to be the best color but I think tahts assuming the finish is reflective (different then glossy). Pure white can make blacks not as black unless the room is totaly dark. That stuff Screen Goo comes mostly in greys. But Ive heard guys say theyve got just as good results form painting their walls with normal paint as $100 screen paint. I dont know but Ill start out with normal paint and see how taht works. I am a skilled painter after all..... I should be able to make the wall perfectly smooth :|

Another option I read from someone is to get a nice sheet of MDF delivered. Its a totaly smooth surface to work with unlike a wall that has the roller knap texture and joint compount skim marks.

I just want to know if projectors really do kill LCDs and Plasmas even at 300". The one I got is 720p which is high def at 16:9 and 1000 lumens.
