I am sorry to here that. I hope you see yourself through this.
I was pretty much in the dumps since June till now. Almost cutting my 4 fingers off with the pinky taking the big blow.
I am better now mentally thanks to a specialist and feel about 90% back.

I should tell you now that atleast nurturing my sanity was this miracle place called MetroAmp.
I took advantage of this great site with my new friends along with a very good old friend (you know who you are  ) and built me a dream amp.
I learned, shut up and listened, and even got bitched at.
In the end, I am happy with the amp building and will continue building more amps and learn more things to "feed the need".

Good luck in your recovery and by all means keep your sanity and start building amps.
There are soo many to choose from to keep your mind occupied ! 8)

Whew. Hope you're OK.

Doesn't look like much in the pic but all that scar tissue on the side of my finger was once a gaping hole courtesy of a chop saw blade guard stuck in the up position. It was the last cut of the day and I wasn't paying attention when I picked up the stud and banged my finger off the back of the blade. It looked a shark bite. First thing through my mind was "I'll never be able to play a bar chord again."

Long story endless, the ER doc says we might be able to save it. Where is the chunk? I told him I wasn't thinking of the piece when I raced to the ER. They bandaged it and told me to see a plastic surgeon on Monday (it was Friday). By the time I got home I was so pissed at myself for being stupid. Had a couple of Tequila's and went out to look at the saw and figure out what the hell I did. Sure enough there was the chunk in the saw in one piece. Called the ER and they told me forget it. It's too late, the piece is dead. Had a couple more tequila's and then said "Hmmmm, where's my sewing kit...Well the smallest needle in the kit looked like a f'n knitting needle so that was out. Enter the miracle of duct tape. I cleaned the chunk real good then put back in and duct taped it up! Next day I started worrying about gangrene so I called the plastic surgeon who just happened to be in the office on Saturday. Told me to come in. hea said the worst that could happen was that it would turn black and fall out. Well it turned black all right. Looked like rotting flesh, but damn if it didn't take and heal itself. It's scar tissue and lacks some feeling but once I sanded down with my plam sander I was back in business!

When I was five I was living in Okinawa (service brat). I stuck my right index finger in a monkey cage and that f*ckin thing chewed a big piece of my finger off.
The nail grows around the finger now and is so thick I have to use wirecutters to cut the nail. But I can hit harmonics like no ones business.

I saw a jazz trio up in Idyllwild last year. The upright bass player was smokin' hot. About halfway through their set I noticed that he only had a pinky on his left hand. Of course it was as big as my thumb but it didn't seem to slow him down.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you have a full recovery.
