Computer shuts down unexpectedly

Changed out the processor, Twice ! Still does it !
Changed out original 512 stick to two other 512's (1G RAM total)
It's the MoBoard isn't it...?
(Fresh XP MCE install SP2Most all upgrades possible)

does it shut down or reboot?
is the power supply enough for how much crap is inside the machine in question?
did you try a new cmos( i think its called) battery inside the machine?

Restarts...
Pulled battery. Replaced after 10 min.
Pain Jane computer. 400wt PS.

get a new cmos battery - did u build it or is a gateway or something? if the latter you probably need a new power supply( one thing they skimp on - when you price a new one you will under stand this ) if u have added stuff - you can add up your compents and see if the supply will work and you want one thats rated some what higher than what you got.
say everything is good ... you need virus software to detect the worm on that computer. common symptom of a virus although xp updates has a fix for it - r u up todate? get mcfee on that machine already - shadup!

It's lil' over 2 yrs old An asus P4P800 w/2.8 HT Intel.
everything was born at the same time.
Don't think there's any virus issues since it was also doing this on a fresh install...
I have heard of dos viruses but unlikely...
As mentioned earlier most all the updates...
I dunno ?
To my expirience almost sounds to me that it would be the PS...?
I'm gonna fix this with a fricken hammer soon !

get virus protection i had a virus once before while installing - r u going to post and then argue the answers?
get all updates as soon as you can as many as you can until it reboots and then start again. once finished run mcfee.

Visually check the capacitors on the mobo for signs of swelling and leakage, some of the caps that have shown up on mobos a couple of years ago blew in no time, resulting in dirty power to your proc.......

good firewall/virus (& spyware) is absolutely imperative in this day & age. you can get good ones free!

like i said - getting all teh updates on that fresh install would remove that virus as one of the updates takes care of it and good.
if that isnt that its the power supply and or the cmos battery - no ifs ands or buts.
do you know who yer messin with?
