saw the Who at the boston Garden on Saturday. Not a marshall in the building, but they sounded awesome. Never thought anyone could do the Keith Moon drum parts justice but Zak Starkey is pretty amazing. The new soundsystem they installed in the garden when they put in the hi-def scoreboard is really really good, best sound I've ever heard in the cheap seats at a stadium.

I would have like to see more early songs and less 80's stuff, but still thought it was a good setlist. Wire and glass, the new mini opera was awesome live.

I love the Who. Was Pete not the first to have the 100 watter??? I saw them in the late 80's and most recently on the Quadrophenia tour a few years back. Man, that was great. I wonder what rig Pete uses now? -James

How was the bass without John Entwhistle?
John was a great bass player.
People talking in the audience aside, Pete needed a big amp to be heard
along side John.

The bass player in my band has an old Alembic bass just like John Entwhistle. The natural finish one with the spider web thing, active electronics. That bass is something else. Has a little box he plug it into between the bass and the amp. he also has a 300 watt sunn.

Boy that setup is loud.

It made me get a Marshall so I can be heard.

zak starkey? thought he was busy with oasis now.

He's in Oasis too (who I'm not a fan of) but that kid can play. The bass player was fine, but didn't try to be the Ox, and just kept it simple and in the background which was perfect in my opinion.

Usually, it's Pino Palladino on bass.

That bass needs to be out front. JE practicaly played lead bass.

The Who. Man, the sound of "Live At Leeds" is so Huge . I guess those were cranked Hiwatts. At times, some of the rhythms on that got almost in to thrash type territory.

You guys should pick up "The Who Live at the Isle of Wight" DVD...it took place shortly after the leeds record was release and is a smoking show. Alot of punk sensibilities.

I heard that Pete Townsend was so impressed with Zak Starkey (Ringo's son) that he offerred him permanent membership in the WHO, and Zak turned him down . He said he had too many thing on his plate or something.

The "Two" just announced dates in Feb at the Long Beach Arena. I'll be there!
