Anyone know the maximum length for a 1394a cable??

I have a firewire audio device that I want to put by my workbench. But I'll need about 32 feet of 1394a cable to make it work. Any idea what the max reliable cable is?

I can find them premade in up to 25'.

Found it:

Firewire Cable Length

The maximum cable length for connecting device to device with a 400Mbps cable is 4.5m (14.85ft).
The Firewire specification calls for 10 meter (32ft) cables that may be used in conjunction with a repeater when it is necessary to extend FireWire cables. Because this cables are not reliable in some situations we strongly suggest you to use 4.5m cables and hubs when needing to extend to greater distances.

Hi G:

"Please note that Firewire A specifications decree that the maximum length of a Firewire cable for a device-to-device connection is (approximately) 5M. These good quality, well-constructed 10M cables will function perfectly in most situations, but their performance cannot be guaranteed due to their length being outside specifications."

But it may work, depending on how much electrical interference you have in your area... :D

Saw your post after I posted. Try it, it might work. Firewire repeaters are expensive..
