What a shame.
He will be missed.
What a talent, and a character he was.

Was the main influence of P-Funk, who were the last great black band in all honesty. Brown ,when he was on ,could truly "Get Down". Long live the music of James Brown.

When I was a wee youngster bought many a JB record at the military base PX in London.I have some real early sides on King Records, and of course Sex Machine, the double LP.
The brilliant musicians that James has employed through the years, comprises a long list.I learned so much from the rhythm guitarists that they mostly were, rarely getting a guitar solo, but they kinda were like a solo all through the piece. The timing and pure sheer funk of the rhythm section was unbelievable. Also I have many early Ike and Tina Turner lps, also with great playing.I remember Teasin' with King Curtis and a certain Eric Clapton on guitar. Also was into Jerry Reed and some Chet Atkins back in the earlier days.
James would fine his bandmembers similar to Little Richard, shutup!
If they were late,or messed up live, the Godfather of Soul would extract his price.
James had a lot of eccentric years, where he was always in the news for getting busted, ect.
He said Please,Please,Please was his favorite song,as he was still a janitor when he recorded it.They brought James in to quell a riot in Atlanta,I remember,so strong was his respect in the black community, and he never forgot where he came from, giving back a lot.
Seems all the great characters in music are going these days.

Why do more people seem to die on the holidays?
