Things sometimes go full circle.
6 or 7 years ago my good friend Tom Wilber returned home from the road after a stint tour managing the young blues guitarist Shannon Curfman.
He dropped by the shop and brought in a pedal of hers that needed some service. No problem, Tom.
So I fixed the pedal and put it on the shelf. Where it sat for several years waiting to be picked up.
Eventually, I found myself needing an overdrive to use for some gigs. I tried all the usual stuff. Tube Screamers, several of the Boss variety, Rat, Biff Muff ect. Nothing really excited me.
Then I pulled that weird pedal off the shelf and tried it out. Sounded pretty good, really good in fact. So I put it on my board and used it.
Sometime later I played a benefit show for something. Can't remember what, I do so many of these things. Anyway, lots of bands at an all day type of thing. We play our set and this guy comes up and asks about the pedal. Turns out he knows more about it than I do. That guy is Dana Osman. Know here as Dosman. And the pedal is a Klon Centaur, an expensive boutique item. Who knew? Dana knew.
Cool! I've inherited a sweet pedal. And it's lived on my pedal board for about two years now.
Last night I'm on stage and who walks in? Tom Wilber of course.
Who does he have with him? A now grown up Shannon Curfman. So I brought her to the stage, took the Klon from my board and gave it her.
No charge on the repair, I got my money's worth out of it.
Boy was she surprized!
Turns out she's recording in Detroit for Rustbelt records and Tom brought her to see the band. Her new release will feature the Klon Centaur courtesy of your's truly. I sure am going to miss that pedal.
So I now have a vacant spot on my pedal board to fill. Any suggestions? I'm thinking fuzz or octave fuzz.

Hey George, I totally LOVE her music!
And guys, I'VE PERSONALLY PLAYED THROUGH THAT PEDAL!!! Here I am sitting in with George's band everytime I'd see them at Maxies, and I'd be playing through that pedal, and all this time I never knew that it was HER pedal!!! HOLY SHIT!!!
Any way that you can arrange a meeting? She's on my "List of people I MUST meet before I die".

I agree she's a hottie, all right. George, the best octave-up pedal IMHO is the Chicago Iron Octavian. It's an exact Tycobrahe Octavia copy and WAY better IMO than the Roger Mayer Octavia which sounds thin compared to the CI Octavian. The CI is a better combination of octave and fuzz without sounding overly shrill and with some killer low end on the lower strings. You'd love that pedal!

From the pic above, I think it looks like George wants to keep her all to himself, the sly dog......flemingmras wrote:Hey George, I totally LOVE her music!
