very close dude. the purpose here was to have all the modes starting from A. so yes itw as all on purpose.rgalpin wrote:did you do that on purpose? is there a reason why you chose those chords?rgalpin wrote:interesting how the backing chords you used from mode to mode fall into a descending pattern:
Ionian - 5 4
Dorian - 4 3
Phryg - 3 2
Lyd - 2 1
Mix - 1 7
Aeo - 7 6
Loc - 6 5 (b5)
you can really hear all of the mode flavors from that one note compared to playing them in one key so to speak.
i see all the modes as alterations of Ionian.
playing A ionian - I IV V in a is a, d, e so i used e/a and d/a for progression.
A dorian is the second mode of g major so i used the IV and V of g major over the A bass note c/a and d/a
a phrygian is the 3rd mode of f major - so IV and V are Bb and C so Bb/A and C/A
etc.
ya get it?
so i want to do A mixolydian - a mixolydian is the 5th mode of D major - the IV and V of D major is G and A - so G/A and A/A was used.
every chord progression was using major triads over an A bass note. triad/over bass note - e triad over a bass note is = E/A
