DEEP PURPLE,LET'S GO BACK IN TIME

Post by yngwie308 » Mon Mar 26, 2007 4:11 am

Here are some great clips pf various Mk's of Deep Purple,a band I think we can all identify as a major rock influence, and a soundtrack for those of us old enough to remember when they were one of the major rock forces worldwide.
From The Deep Purple Live 1973 DVD,the only ever filmed version of Smoke On The Water:

Great to hear Blackmore and those great vocalists Ian Gillian and Joe Lynn Turner again.
So much great music,Ritchie has some great tunes.

Great stuff, Dave. I never get tired of Blackmore's playing (well excpet maybe what he's doing now.... with Candace. Blackmore's night? WTF?? )

The studio version of "Lazy" is some of the cleanest playing ever. Great chops and note selection.

I think it's live in Ireland 72 or 73, an old cassete. On "Strange kinda Woman" Blackmore really goes off about as good as I ever heard him (better than the "Live In Japan, to me) He even commences to sweep picking a minor arpeggio ! Thats about the earliest I ever heard someone do that.

I prefer Live In Europe over Made In Japan and Blackmore very definitely uses that sweep arpeggio in Strange Kind Of Woman.

There is also a bit that Blackmore and Gillian would do trading licks. Blackmore would play them and Gillian would sing them. Finally Gillian gets tired of getting stepped on and says "Aw, shut up, Frank!"
