Watched this clip a million times. What a fantastic sound. Totally the sound I am after. Would love to hear the vol on the guitar backed off a bit and some Free played through it (NOT alright now :D ).

Funny you should mention that conversion.. i would like to hear how yours turns out because i have been thinking about doing this too to my AOR. I just can't bloodywell decide whether or not to do it! Filter caps need changing first, see how i like that.

G Me too. I want to build a replica of this 50 watt. Can we get the specs and tweaks?I haVE a 69 100 watt and I have a sound in my head then I heard your 50 watt here and I want to build one( 71 spec 50 watt) just like this one.So is it a straight 71 spec or is there certain tweaks that were done that you can disclose?? Thanks in advance

Thanks, glad you like them. The 50w is straight 1987 specs. Just like all of the schematics you find on the web.
Transformers are my own 1202-118 and 784-139. These same parts are used in the upcoming 50 watt kit as well.

filering

Post by dgl333 » Sat Oct 27, 2007 11:02 pm

Thanks G,

First let me say again how hot this amp sounded. The trannies sound great. I thought I wanted the 1202-55 for a bit more voltage, but after hearing the 118, I'm sold.

Let me see if I have learned anything here the filtering is a 50/50in parallel for the initial mains for 100uf total. a 50/50 shared for 50uf each screens/phase inv. and a 50/50 shared for 50uf each cath follower/pre amp???

I think I have the info I need now to be more specific with Fido next week. As I'm sure you know We are altering the 45 kit to get to a 50, and we had some discrepancies.
Peace

Forgive my ignorance George, but then what differentiates a '71 spec 50 watter from a '68 like described in your kit?? thanks.

Hey George,

I can't tell from your picture but it looks like you did not go all the way with the 71 spec, correct me if I am wrong but it looks like you used a .022 cap on the lead channel off V1 instead of the .0022 uf cap that is in your layout for the 71.
