Old fender OT

Post by kyle31 » Sat Nov 24, 2007 5:25 pm

I just got a 2204 built into an old crate chassis. I have never built an amp from scratch, so I thought this would be a good project. Thanks to the countless hours reading on this forum, i now have confidence that I could have built one from scratch, but I'll be satisfied getting this one souped up and rehoused.

Anyways, it sounds good, but it has an old '67 fender OT. I don't know what the primaries are, but it has to be from a super reverb or a bassman. Is there a way to measure the primaries?

Wouldn't this mean that this OT would be more suited for 2 6l6s? The amp currently has 2 el34s. Couldn't I just put a couple 6l6s in there, bias them, and see how they sound?

I'm considering buying a more 'marshally' OT. I like the idea of having a 50 watt plexi running on 6l6s sometime in the future, but this one is going to have el34s.

primary should be red blue brown
secondary should be green.black

if it has more than two secondary colors than it's prob the modern multi tap

I've got it all figured out and wired up. It sounds really good. I was just wondering about running 2 el34s with a OT made for 2 6l6s.

Thanks though!
