Sonny Landreth
I just saw Sonny Landreth for the first time - on Clapton's Crossroads DVD. I am assuming that this is only because I live under a rock changing diapers.
Can any fans out there tell me what's the best Sonny Landreth album to get for a Sonny newby?

after some listening and searching, i found this:
http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6800233
a live album called Grant Street.
this is the coolest, nasty slide playing i've ever heard. it's just far enough out there on the edge to be inspiring and innovative but not too far.
anybody dig this dude's playing?

Re: Sonny Landreth
All of them including his latest, "From the Reach". I, literally, just got back from one of his shows. Usually artists skip over Nashville like a dirty diaper; but, Sonny (and come to think of it, Oz Noy, last month) both dropped into 3rd & Lindsley. Both great shows!! There were some problems tonight with the vocal mic; but, Sonny had a "whatever" attitude and just ripped out the kind of incredible slide work only he can. That 1x12 was screaming for mercy!!!rgalpin wrote:Can any fans out there tell me what's the best Sonny Landreth album to get for a Sonny newby?

Just found that. Hank Shizzoe is slide player from Switzerland. Good vibe...
