Hi All,
I'm kinda new to this, so I'm reluctant to do anything without asking first. Anyway, my question is:
I completely understand that when the amp is on and all tubes are in, a load must be attached to the outputs. When I'm putting my amp together though and going through the voltage testing on specific areas of the amp, WITHOUT THE POWER TUBES INSTALLED, is it a must to have a load (4, 8 or 16 ohms) attached? or is it that anytime power is applied to the output tranny (on the primaries of course) a load must be present?
Thanks guys,
Ed

if it has output tubes in it it needs a load. and u are right that part of the step by step needs to be a little more clear, at the point of installing output tubes, it doesn't say to have a load onit!
so a rule. if it has output tubes in it it needs a load on it.... be it speakers or a load resistor.
