Yeah, but once you get used to it, its kind of a 'good freak out' on a daily basis. You've GOTTA visit NYC at least once in your life. There is so much to see and do here it can be overwhelming for a visitor.
I have friends that live on Long Island their whole lives and hardly ever get into the city, and it still blows THEM away.
Its got its own unique pulse and rhythm, 24/7. I love it.

Don't get ME started on that shit, fill.........

We don't have those tor-nay-ders in CA but we do have the occasional "shakers, tremblors, tremblers, aftershocks, slight disturbance and seismic activities" but the funniest thing is when it rains. Bin Laden can nuke a major city but if it drizzled in Southern California all the news headlines would be "STORMWATCH '08"....
...really

Then there are the regularly scheduled freeway shootings. Before I lived here I thought "Those nut jobs in CA shooting each other on the freeway? WTF???" Then I moved here and experienced driving with these morons first hand..... It's a good thing I don't take my gun with me on the road.....

They say we have four seasons in CA...Earthquake, Fire, Flood and Riot.

My wife and I went down to the WTC site the 2 weekends after that shit happened to try to work doing cleanup. They wouldnt let us south of Canal St. on the first weekend so we just supplied water to the people that they would let down there. The 2nd weekend we got all the way down to the site. There is no written way to describe how fucked up everything was. Seeing police and firefighters, and rescue dogs coming out of that hell hole is something that is burned into my brain. Seeing tractor trailers loaded with massive "I" beams twisted like they were made of rubber was just surreal.
One of the weirdest things I've ever seen was the area around Times Square in the days following the attacks. At one point, mid-day, it didnt seem like there was even 100 people walking around the area. Normally its packed to the walls with people, but seeing almost no one there was just flat out eerie.
I hope to never see days like that again, bro.

I hear ya. I took the family to NY about 9 months after. We parked off of Wall Street and took a walk around. I couldn't believe how quiet and surreal it all seemed. It was a f'n weekday in the middle of the day!

Hey fill, I believe Blackmore used to live up in Glen Head area. I talked to him once at MFP. Me and my buddy who were big Blackmore fans at the time (19-20 yr old star struck kids) went to see Derringer. We were standing near the bar when my buddy says don't turn around but Ritchie is standing right behind us. Well, it took a while to get our nerve up but we finally said hi and he was pretty cool. When I turned around to say something more he was gone. He did mention that he played soccer nearby on Sunday mornings and that if we played we should come by. Soccer is not my game but if the ice rink was open at the time I would have invited him to come play some hockey!

I dont remember where I heard this, but I think he still does live on the Long Island somewhere. Still playing his renaissance music with the bad puffy shirts from what I hear. :? :?

He needs to hook himself back up to a Strat and a Marshall Major, and make some NOISE!!
