I tried the Marshall Hendrix Stack
I didnt get to crank it but I think its wonderful from what I could tell...
The amp is even punchy and smooth with a real fat/clear smooth voice.
Its actually better sounding then the real 65 JTM100 I just worked on.
I must explain this.. The 65/66 JTM100 I just woked on had that HUGE RS military power transformer and the amp was too clean.
Speakers are amazing too, better then the heritige 20's.

the 65 / 66 jtm with dual OT and RS PT isn't the same as the jimi hendrix JTM (dickinson amp based) that has the first 100 W Drake OT and the big Drake PT.
i have one of these hendrix 66' JTM100 and know someone that had both (i nearly bought his dual OT jtm100) , they don't sound the same .
i would say that the original must be less bright that the reissue like it is with all the marshall ri's i heard compared with original vintage amps (and speakers) .
i can't push all my eq pots on my jtm45 clone (i usualy put mids, presence and treble on 5 with it) cause it's too bright, but i can do it (maybe not all on 10 ,especialy the bass pot obviously) on my 66' jtm100 without beeing too bright.
that said, i haven't heard the hendrix amp ri and would be curious to hear it.
knowing the 18 and 20w HW ri's tone (i have both i finaly upgraded with original RS OT , shinrock transformers and nos mullard caps ) that didn't sound that bad stock, i would suppose it's not that bad (i had a friend that bought the jtm100 dual OT towshend ri that was happy with it through g12m25 ri's) but i would tend to think some high end clones with selected parts sound better.
the speakers used with the jimi stack are the G12C25 if i remember well, they are the ones or some sold with the vintage modern amps (maybe available apart from those amp's cabs )

I would not hesitate to put either my standard or especially the vintage line in the amp... Thats the best part of the vintage caps, just like original mustards, the sozo vintage will tame the high end issues that are always problematic in clone amps due to modern caps etc...

in that jtm45 clone, i used some original nos mustards, so i don't think i need to change them even if the sozo premium must be nice in a marshall clone.
i used some sozo premium in a 1624T supro clone i just built but i have a sweeter tone than my original one (even using same 60's jensen p12q) that has more upper midrange.
i wonder if the ceramic caps give more upper midrange brightness than the sozo premiums ?
i know the vintage caps have a high tolerance, sometims more than 30 % but usualy it's +10/20 or 30 or even more but i rarely saw some with really -20 to -30 % (sometimes - 5to -10 %), so the original 1624T should be darker than my clone if there was such a tolerance differeence !
it might come from the OT difference as well maybe, despite i finaly used a MM 1624T tone clone , and they are usualy quiet close to what they clone from what i heard with the MM OT's i bought !
for my jtm45 clone, it's not that it is too bright, it's just that it is brighter than my original jtm amps ! but that's not a bad thing cause in a mix, i have to eq the original jtm's , adding more mids and treble, so i don't need to do it as much with my jtm45 clone , what is not a bad thing !
the original ones are maybe sometimes "more pleasing" to play alone, by themselves, beeing sweeter but in a mix, you need them to get through all the other instruments !
as i record really often when i play, that's not a problem .
that said, if i had not bought lots of nos mullard caps to upgrade my marshall reissue amps (when those caps were less expensive but already sold a fair price !) i would certainly use the sozo premiums in those amps and i will certainly use those caps for the marshall amps (at least ) i will build and sell !
they would certainly sound sweeter than the ones used in the HW marshall serie (ERO caps or so if i remember well)

Glad you had good sucess...
Most modern ceramics dont sound like the old ones... The ones I do like are the Sprague 3kv ceramics...
The output is huge in the tone, but with a vintage amp, besides the output the mojo is there due to the age of the parts. The wire oxidization, pots, etc... rolls the high end.

i finaly found a few nos ceramic caps that have the right value for my supro 1624T clone (some 0,0047 and 0,022, still need some 0,047 ), i might swap some in to check if i have more upper mids but i' wonder if there are some particular caps i should change first instead of removing all of them !

Northern Electric has a JH100 and it sounds awsome. Sounded even more Jimi when I swapped in some nos Mustard. The only thing left to do is cc resistors and locate a ceramic sound alike or original mixer cap. Mr Sozo do you have any suggestions. Where can I get the 3kv ceramics you spoke of?
