ROBBIE BLUNT
I have always loved Big Log and In The Mood by Robert Plant, featuring the stellar guitar work of Robbie Blunt.
Apparently there was a Guitar Player interview with him in 1985 by Jas Obrecht, detailing his equipment used to get the incredible Strat tones on those recordings.
Shown in the In The Mood video, Robbie is playing a vintage Strat with a small blackface Fender amp behind him. He is in the between pickups setting, but what outboard equipment was he using?
Does anyone have the article or know?
Thanks

I found out from our friends at Plexi Palace that Robbie used a 1956 Stratocaster, two Princeton Blackface amps, Boss CE-1 chorus.

It was a 1958 Stratocaster and the chorus was set to slow with no boost.

On Jeff Healey's album "See The Light" there is an instrumental, slow blues song called "Nice Problem To Have" that is just Jeff and Robbie Blunt...just guitars...nothing else...excellent! Jeff with his crunchy Marshall sound in one channel, and Robbie's clean Strat in the other. Check it out!
Of course I love Robbie's playing on Plant's albums. I believe they were in Band Of Joy together before Zeppelin.

I DO have that article from the 1985 GP magazine. If you'd like a copy, send me a PM here with your email addy, and I will send it as a PDF attachment.
Cool?
Best wishes,
