new 5150 III schematic
Hi guys I`m new here and to be honest I`m looking for someone that have this schematic ...
I imagine that this new one it`s very similar with the 5150 II but the idea of having 3 channels and the sound that this new one have excites me a lot...
I love specially the sound of Ed, that`s why I have one peavey wolfgang and a project of frankstrat here with me, and would like to try do this amp...
I'm trying to get ahead but I don`t find this schematics...
Thank you ..
Ps: sorry about my English ...

Re: new 5150 III schematic
I recently got a 5150 III and the schematics came with it, so did a quick scan of them this morning for you guys. I'd be really interested to hear any comments on the circuit. The image limit here is 800 pixels so I posted the 3 schematic drawings up at high-res here:

Also please let me know if I'm not supposed to be posting this kind of thing here and I'll remove them right away.
Thanks.

Re: new 5150 III schematic
it's totally fine to post them. the schematic even has the footswitch
this is pretty awesome. if i wasn't knee deep in restoring a sound city L120 i'd be digging through this thing...

Re: new 5150 III schematic
Thanks spaceace. I added the layout diagrams and made some overlays too (same page as above).

Re: new 5150 III schematic
I see some zeners used..why ??? I just cascaded the front end of a handwired last night..added a type 2 PPIMV nails the VH tone. so does the standard 100 metro kit with the same mods.

Re: new 5150 III schematic
the zeners are most likely for noise reduction on the p/s circuits. this combined with some regulators makes for a cheap, clean, more reliable power supply in most cases.

Re: new 5150 III schematic
thats a signal bounding technique. The noise reduction (high end hiss reduction) is a side effect.

Re: new 5150 III schematic
Yep for sure ...that's exactly what's going on (signal bounding). The signal is being bounded or clamped to only reach a certain voltage much how a regulator works.
Those who build the jose master w/zeners notice the same thing ....they turn up the master it gets bounded and clamped and nothing appears to happen once it reachs the threshold.
I speculated once that maybe the jose master was a design jose used for the opt primary mod as it would limit the voltage going to the poweramp. Thereby saving the opt.
Dr Dirty notices the low noise effect of the bounding technique in the other 5150 lll thread also.
Anyways I just have to bump this thread as there are many people pming looking for the evh5150lll schematic.
