I made a suggestion before the site redesign about a complete new section in the main forum dedicated to Ed's copy guitars, which would free up the amp and tone chasers section... the EVH section has over 60k post in it alone!!! but it looks as if the post vanished into the haze from too many rattle cans being used at one time

Not being a great fan of the redesign... I couldn't work out what was making it look so messed up with text... the hey presto, there's no boxes/panels of color to section things out.
Just a suggestion to bring it back in line a bit...

The only thing I don't like about this site and others is when the "New Posts" or "View Latest Posts" button or link is not on every page. I hate having to go back to the beginning just to see new posts. The old version did that too.

My concert ticket avatar doesn't fit with grey. Let's get back to the golden Metropolous Amplification colours!

Pro:
- The new posts link is on the left site, like all the other phpBB based forums. Just this forum was always confusing
- Overview of new/active posts seems to be a bit clearer, it it seems you can get an overview at a glance a bit faster.
- Topics read easier, probably due to a smaller font.
- Moving the buttons (PM, profile, www) from the bottom of each post to the left column (and quote aligned to right in the subject&date/time posted line is an improvement as well for readibility IMO.
- Good that you didn't change it to black background/white text like on the Marshall forum.
After reading on those sites I always have the black/white view imprinted on my vision for some times (like looking into bright light and seeing spots afterwards)
- the 45 degree banner with red text showing that a member is online.

Con:
- I can't see anymore when my last visit was and what the current time and time zone is.
- the soft greyish background color was a bit more friendly to my eyes then the new light grey-blueish color.
I would be a great improvement if you can get that colorscheme back. That colorscheme was also a huge improvement w.r.t. the preceeding soft orange color scheme.
- Repeating the title of the topic in each post creates overhead and makes it less easy to scan a page. The title of a post catches your attenation as it's using bold characters.

Though the new color scheme and background could be more original and related to the themes of the forum, i find that the new forum is better organized and i do find things easier than on the previous one. Also the new color scheme makes things easier on the eyes, better for reading and overview.
I'd suggest to put, for instance, some levant tolex (best would be if it looked a bit worn and had some scratches for that vintage vibe) close up as the background instead of that white to gray gradient (i mean the background that is around the main frame). On a 1024x768 pixel screen there would be just a hint of the tolex and on bigger resolutions tou wouldn't have that huge empty boring gradient. Would add some character - and it's an easy thing to do to make a nice tile from a tolex close-up - it would also fit the pornographic fetish towards amps that we on this forum exhibit :) Oh, and, please, someone make A Jimi-smiley, with a transparent background so the afro stands out better! :)

+1 for the old look.

It's much more difficult to distinguish threads with new posts from those that have been read up to date with the new colours.

Do we just need more contrast? Or is it also the lack of black and gold Marshall theme?

More contrast between the read and unread icons would definitely help.

Personally the colours doesn't bother me at all, just the readability, and I think that's what has suffered with the new scheme.

I really prefer the layout and functions of the new theme. I always felt this forum was behind compared to other, more up to date forums I read.

Agree that some contrast might make it even better, though I have no issue with readability here.
