As far as her court demeanor goes: There were times when she cried, but other times when she did sit there emotionless when horrible things were being discussed. That put me off too. There were times when she laughed. I think her behavior in court was a controlled act, from her wardrobe, hair style, to her reactions. Her handlers were even monitoring the internet to see what people were thinking. They probably read blogs of people saying how heartless she was for not crying, and they told her to turn on the water works for effect. This was well orchestrated.fillmore nyc wrote: I dunno, Ed. Her total and complete lack of emotion in the court proceedings tells me that she never really freaked out about what transpired with her daughter. I mean, how the FUCK can someone... the MOTHER of that child, sit there absolutely emotionless while they read off the findings of her daughters remains???
Im NOT trying to make a joke, but its almost Josef Mengele-like.
If she really didnt do it, how on earth can she listen to those kind of horrendous details and show no empathy for her daughters suffering at ALL???
I cant fathom it.

Re: Not guilty?
I think women make up 13 percent of the jail total. Lots for murder. yet only like a fraction of 1 percent of them get the capital punishment.
Men, on the other hand, get the shaft. They are FAR more likely to be convicted by the jurors.
I read where there is a relationship between how people (ALOT of men for sure) just HATE to convict women IF the death penalty is involved.
Men just dont want to hurt women, ESPECIALLY the real femanine and petite pretty type (Casey for sure !)
Statistics sort of prove this.
I think that when some of the jurors were asked what the verdict may have been if there WASNT a death penalty (they said they would have convicted). Then why is she set free !
Because our society has a problem killing young pretty women !

I totally agree.
They don't even have to be pretty. 2 words.... Andrea Yates
If that was a guy, he would already be 6 feet under.

In a courtroom setting, I think this is 100% true. A woman would have to be an Aileen Wuornos type to get sentenced to death, but thats not to say that Casey Anthony doesnt deserve the same, cause IMO, she does.Tone Slinger wrote:I think women make up 13 percent of the jail total. That male to female stat as far as jail is concerned IS really telling about how men operate in general, though. I mean, if you watch the shows "Lockup" or "Jail", life in a mens prison and life in a womans prison is COMPLETELY different.
Women in prison sit around and talk, they do each others nails, etc.
Mens prison??? "YOU LOOKED AT MY SHOELACES, MUTHAFUKKA!!! YOU'RE GETTIN' A SHANK NEXT TIME YOU TURN YOUR BACK!!!!"

An all male prison is a violent, ugly place to be, man. Life or death... you never know what the day is gonna bring.
Im sure a womens prison isnt a day at the beach, but its WAY more mellow than a place like Rahway, NJ, or ADX Florence in Colorado.

Anyone ever take the Alcatraz tour in SF? Its VERY cool, and really inconceivable that people have done a 25 to life stint there. The book "On The Rock" by Alvin Carpis is excellent. Carpis spent the longest time of any inmate on Alcatraz, from August 1936 to April 1962. Its a great read about his early criminal life, his capture by the FBI with J. Edgar Hoover at the scene of his capture, and mostly how intolerable life was on Alcatraz.
If anyone is gonna consider doing the Alcatraz tour, I highly recommend reading the Carpis book first. I've done that tour twice (its that good), and having the info from that book prior to the tour makes seeing that shit in person mindblowing for real.

I had the feeling you might have done that tour, Chief. If you havent already, check out Carpis' book. It'll make you wanna go back and take the tour again!!NY Chief wrote:+1, filly. The Rock tour is chilling...
There are SO many cool things to see there, not the least of which are the still clearly visible bullet ricochet marks in the floor where the National Guard were shooting down at the prisoners from a hole in the roof.
One thing that really struck me was the strength of the currents surrounding the Island... man, thats some angry, green water out there. I cant see how ANYONE would be able to make shore thru that kinda turbulence, not to mention that the Bay is known for sharks cause of the seals and walruses that hang out near the Wharf.

A really great experience all around.

Everywhere I looked I saw Clint digging through the wall with a spoon and Burt Lancaster in his aviary! When that cell door slams it sends chills up your spine. And solitary???? NO THANKS!
