1500 tops now. You make the call.I would wait till Ed kicks the bucket if you can hold out that long? That`s what he would do.

A true verifiable '76 Destroyer in nice condition would really be worth around $2,500 or more...I wouldn't sell it for a penny less than that.

Re: Selling my '76 Destroyer -- should I?
Lol! This stuff is great man! I don't get emails sent to me about threads so sorry I missed it all.
The Destroyer is in good to fair condition -- it's 35 yrs old so not sure if it could be in great condition. eBay price floor would be $2K. Obviously a lot more than that at some guitar store, but still agree WAY underpriced especially compared to a new [insert any major brand name here].
The only reason I'd keep it at this point is if my son decides to pick up the guitar later -- he's 9 now and a diehard drummer but loves EVH and whammies around on my old guitars a bit. But he's also an animal, very physical, and has broken off just about every knob and whammy bar except Floyds, so letting him play the Destroyer gives me the willies.
I guess one more reason: I sold a 69 Super Bass in my teens and really wish I hadn't (I need to let go of that memory...).
Re: verifiable and all that, I will take some pics and post here, then tell me what you see. I honestly can't remember how I got to the '76.
And thanks Rich_D!

fyi there is a check box at the bottom of the page to subscribe to any thread so you get emails. Not trying to be a smartass, it was years before I knew that.
Interpretation?! I thought I was playing it right!

Re: Selling my '76 Destroyer -- should I?
This thread made me put the N4 out on the stand so I'll give it another chance before I sell it, and I'm reminded that it is the best playing guitar I have. Maybe I'll do so pickup experiments to see if I can brighten it up any. Seriously, do something to put that Ibanez back in your playing rotation before you make any rash decisions.

Re: Selling my '76 Destroyer -- should I?
If there is no serial number on the back of the headstock then it may be a very late 1975 through early 1976-model 2459...I believe they started putting serial numbers on the guitars in 1976...Mine has no serial and I believe mine is one of these...fivecoyote wrote:Re: verifiable and all that, I will take some pics and post here, then tell me what you see. 1976 was the first year they started with the serial numbers...Do you have any pics of your Destroyer? I know we'd all love to see it!Armitage wrote:My '76 has a serial number.
