JTM45 with "jazzy" speakers?

Post by bolso103 » Thu Oct 17, 2013 8:40 am

Well, I know the JTM45 isn't the jazziest amp. However, I would like to build a 2x12 cab (or 1x15??) with the jazziest response possible. Something with fat/round bass, warm mids and not much highs, like Eminence BIG BEN, LIL' BUDDY, Tonker. What would you suggest? Maybe I should consider changing the KT66's and put 6L6's (changing the screen resistors also) to make the amp quite "Fender" (better cleans).

Thanks!!

Thank you Stef. What about the speakers? I play a Johnson Archtop with too bassy EMG pickups, wich my actual speaker (a Peavey Sheffield 1230) does not tolerate such tone, and distorts a lots with the volume al less than 4. What kind of speaker will you recommend? Today I will listen a Eminence Cannabix Rex and a Tonker.

Sorry, I use the greenbacks only and I guess they are not what you're looking for :what:
