I ride dirt bikes in the Cleaveland National Forest when I visit my mom in El Cerrito/Tom's Farm area (Weirick road exit off the I15 in between Corona and Lake Elsinore, CA)
Growing up there, we used to play hide and go seek with a couple dirt bikes and horses in the groves. Now that area is getting built up, but you can still ride up to the top of the mountain, and get a little extra light at the end of the day, and on a clear day, even see Catalina island.

In the winter time you gett a little snow on top of that mountain, which is fun to ride in too. I think the mountain is called Saddleback Mountain or skyline ridge or something.

We used to get crazy with street bikes through Ortega highway.
That's the run between Lake Elsinore San Juan Capistrano.
My friend caught some sand going around a curve, and munched it.
Another riding buddy of mine named Tim Sherman (Dude had my back in a outnumered brawl where the other guys had baseball bats) died in lake Elsinore on his bike running from the cops on his 650 Cheapo $500 Kawasaki that he had tweaked. Last I heard his head was swollen like a Pumpkin before he died (no helmet). He had a baby too. He was in his early 20's.

That guy was such a good rider, he could switch bikes and still beat us all.
He was one of those natural German mechanical inclined type. he made those 650s scream when he got through with them.

Since then I've stuck with dirt bikes> I know you can die on one of them too, but at least it will be my fault if that happens. (and not some old lady backing out of her driveway)

Not to be rude, but if was going to get a Harley, it would be a Softail, Full Dresser, or a Hog, not a Sportster. My friends would make fun of me if I
showed up on a Sportster.

No offense intended.

I know Ortega Highway well. It's a popular run in SoCal and it's also very dangerous and somone is always getting hurt or worse. It's usually the crotch rocket guys that have to hit it a "buck-20". You rarely see a Harley rider get unless a crotch rocket or car coming the other way crosses over

Actually the 1200 Sportster is the fastest production Harley, and the best handling. Its the first superbike by most accounts and has been around for like 50 years, so there must be something to it. Anyone who "looks down" to a Sportster is...I digress.

I don't think that the 1200 Sportster is the fastest or best handling bike that HD offers. But it's no slouch.

Sorry man, I don't want to get all the Sportster rid'n bikers after me.
I just have this friend that gave me some shit one time I was checking one out, and I thought his reaction was funny. He said that was a lesbian bike. Oh he busted my balls, and said while I'm there, why don't I get a Honda rebel, or a Moped and ride bitch behind Freddie Mercury

His words not mine. So don't get mad at me.
(I have brutal friends. )

It was all in good humor, and I hope I didn't hurt any feelings.
I'm not a big Harley expert, but I like going to biker parties, with wild hog and Venison on the grill, and that have naked women on the slip and slide in the back yard  (hey, some of them were cute!)

My Ortega Hwy days were like 20 years ago, and it was cheap Kawasaki
650 that were were into. That and dirt bikes. We used to ride crazy back then.

Now It's just the dirt bikes with my kid pretty much.

Again no offense intended
I'm sure your bike is very cool

Please accept my apalogy.

No offense taken, Mike, and my reply was not directed to you personally as you clearly stated you were only repeating what you were told.

I really envy you guys you get all the cool toys like harley's there is only 1 harley i am aware of in my home town and it has the widest handle bars in the whole of scotland apparantely. I love the sound of a harley what a deep manly sound you can still hear it atleast a mile after it has past  tell me don't harley's get uncomfy i mean the sitting position seems un natural. Some day i want to visit California and see all the custom harley's down there.
in the words of beavis " hehe it'll be awesthome!"

I raced 600's for two years and 1000's for three. All jap bikes though. The weather ain't so good as you guys get it over there so you get good in the wet and good at falling off at the same time. What's the best site to host pics and I'll post some.

GREAT pic, SB!!

I did that once on my Heritage! Didn't know I was gonna do it and didn't have exactly the same form and didn't quite exit the corner the same way either. But, I healed and the paint got fixed...
