JMP-1 mods?
Anybody aware of mods for the JMP-1 preamp? Mine sounds pretty good as is (NOS Mullards help) but you know the drill... looking for more plexi sound. Getting rid of the silicon diode would probably be a good thing.
I'm not into heavy preamp distortion - I use the Clean 1 or 2 (mostly 2) to drive the power section of a Lexicon Signature 284 (NOS Teslas) on "10".
New to the board... Thanks for your help.

Re: JMP-1 mods?
No one likes a liar, so no one likes a rackmount pre-amp that tries to be a plexi.miguel wrote:Anybody aware of mods for the JMP-1 preamp? faux plexi
Of course, if you were to believe the Marshall advertising and think you'd get it to sound like a plexi all by itself, you'd be sorely disappointed.
No power tubes!
My rig might not sound 'exactly' like a plexi, but it's got a nice vibe, IMO. The preamp is only part of the equation... it's the cranked up power amp that gives it the tone and touch sensitivity.
Not exactly the EVH setup, but it's the same idea:
Warmoth Soloist w/ Duncan '59 model bridge/neck, vintage strat middle
JMP-1 (for lead tone - Clean 2, gain=20, volume=16)
Class A EL84 power amp (dimed) into internal dummy load
Alesis Q20 (time delay fx)
Marshall 8008 Valvestate power amp (valvestate mode)
Marshall 2x12 w/ G12H-30 reissues
I'll try to post a clip sometime.
