I just wanted you to know that I am not a new player, and I do have my own sound.. I have 11 amps 5 cabinets and 10 guitars. I just don't have a really good vintage amp that cries to be played.

Marc

That sounds like quite an arsenal. Have you thought about looking into one of George's kits or maybe doing a board replacment?

The amp in question is in the middle of a board replacement as we speak, this discussion really started out as should I go split or shared cathode, .022's or .1's in the phase inverter and what the ideal filtering should be i.e. 32x32 or 50x50s. I was just thinking it would be easier to ask for ideas rather that test-change-test-change-test when others have done the same thing that I am doing. I will likely just have to experiment with all of the above.. When I get it right I will explain what I did. The amp sould be up on saturday and then I will post various pics and sound clips.

Thanks again everyone for your help and input

Yea, that's what I did with those same components, test-change-change and went from shared to split and back to shared cathode on V1.

Are you talking about removing the .68uf and the 2.7k, and wiring that part of the board like a 1968? Which year had the shared cathode on V1?

1968 or 69?

The earlier amps up to around early 68 had a shared stage V1. All Super Basses had a shared V1 as well.
