They executed Saddam today

Post by mightymike » Sat Dec 30, 2006 10:09 am

They don't waste time over there, with 20 years of appeals like California.
Even though he may deserve it, I still feel sad to see any life ended.
Even a bad man.

Well based on what I understand he was responsible for, his hanging would only be the first step in a long journey, to cover all his horrid wrongings. On the other hand, he was a Dictator, who could do as he wished, like in the old, old days. His own country would have had to overthrow him without outside help (USA) for this execution to have been politically legitamate. I feel that this was done the wrong way. It seems too USA motivated to me.

I'm not saying what he did was right but all I know is he was able to do what the US government is not able or willing to do, and that is get that area under control. In the beginning I did not understand why he did the horrible things that he did but now 3000 something US dead soldiers later and many beheadings and no progress in bringing that area under control, I see why he had to go to the extreme with things.

Why is it we can remember where all the wires go, but can never find a pick?

Listen, I reeeeealy get fired up on all this shit.
I'm with Chief on this for the most part...
As Marksmanship Training Instructor it doesn't phase me that I was a decorated former Marine but what does is that I can't do anything to help....
I taught to our troops "One Shot-One Kill but I feel helpless that I can't make a difference any more.
Those fuckin' Taliban and not the people who cannot express what their true feelings are because of supression/ fear of their lives.
These are real people that want to live and want a better life. I believe this because even Saddam didn't want death in the end.

One thing... I never let the Media sway my knowledge of things. especially in an area of interest

Man I hate this shit...
I hope diplomacy will prevail...

Boy do I hate to say this, but that execution video makes him look fucking brave. And the way he stood tall and did not act like he was scared in the face of taunts and chants takes a lot of inner strength.
I've seen a few executions, and a lot of people piss their pants, cry, plead,
and faint. Here he is standing tall, and his executioners look like cowards with hoods on. I hate to say that, but that's the way it looks.

Now if this makes a pro-death penalty/ enemy of him feel empathy for him and his family, what is this going to do to his supporters in the Arab world?

Even though he had a "trial", and his body wasn't hung in the streets to be defiled , his execution never the less seems like one step up from a Taliban execution Video.

I was very impressed at his candor while the executioners explained to him how the hanging process was gonna happen. He looked at them as if they were giving him a tour a beer plant or something. Dude has some big f'n balls. And while they put that black scarf like thing around his neck before the rope. He acted like he was being fitted for a tux. Big F'n balls man!!! Huge!

Saddam was executed for the deaths of 148 people. GW Bush was responsible for 155 executions as governor of Texas, most of them as a result of unfair trials, just like Saddam. Under GW Bush, Texas became the state with the highest execution rate. Among those executed were underaged and mentally ill people. GW Bush's precious Iraq war has so far been responsible for the deaths of an estimated 655,000 people, most of them women and children. This war may well claim a million innocent lives. But remember, they hate us because we're free. Seems to me they hung the wrong guy.

I seem to remember GW Bush calling Iraq under US occupation a 'democracy'. I also seem to remember massive vote fraud has been taking place in every US election since 2000, which led to GW Bush stealing the presidency. The only reason it didn't work in 2006 is because people voted overwhelmingly Democratic, so much so that even vote fraud couldn't switch the vote. Choice, you say?
