Cool stuff ! I see you didnt fill the grain on that Black strat (obviously ash). But hey , it just needs a 'little' protection huh ? That Ash literally DRINKS finish/paint.

Man, vanhalen5150, that is the toughest look! Is that like a green/black? What paints and finish did you use for that? Lacquer? Poly? Man, can I steal that design?

Very cool! I like having all black guitars instead of doing the stripes...that's how I did my Kramer-it came out essentially the same as your Baretta, but with a maple Musikraft neck. Is your Callaham floating at all or does it sit flush against the body?popskull wrote:Heres what I got for the VH fix-1986 Baretta with a Duncan 78 EVH --The yellow/black one is a KNE body-Warmoth neck-original floyd with a EVH Franky p.up--The black one is a KNE Franky body with a divebomb franky neck-Callaham trem with a old Dimarzio super dist.p.up and painted with Reranch..I decided not to stripe it as I play it out alot..I also did not paint any cavaties in the bodys of both guitars-only sealed them. Im thinking that might help the tone. Seems like more paint and sealers only deaden tone-I might be wrong but they both sound good.

Re: Official post your frankenstrat thread - LET's See THem!

Here's what I did with my KNE 5150 body and neck. There's a yellow, fluorescent orange, purple, and white layer. This is my first time putting paint on wood and I knew it would be rough so I planned something rough. I thought I would sand a lot more of spots to expose more colors but it was harder than I thought and I wanted to play the damn thing after a month of paint stuff. Sorry to bite off all the guitars here with roughed up paint jobs.

Interpretation?! I thought I was playing it right!

Here is my personal version.
The stripes are not even close to the original.
I did the paintjob on one day...was eager to
get it going...so I could hear the sound of it.

I don't care about exact replica. No 2 Ed guitars were alike. So in the Spirit of Ed make it unique. Marshall Maniac Yours is beautiful!

It´s an Allpartsneck. One piece birdseye maple. The shape and frets are very similar to a Music Man Axis neck.somethin'else wrote:Love the bold stripes, an abstract Ode To...Funky Hunky wrote:I don't care about exact replica. funny timing flex. appreciate the props. round the corner of the headstock to look like the old charvel and it's a solid build!
here's my latest. it still needs blue paint and swiss cheese on the bottom. the hardware doesnt match up historically. crown heads with the off set font prototype floyd that was photographed with the beak neck. oh well...i doubt i'll ever get around to a 5150 but if i do i'll update floyds. dialing in the amp is the priority.
also want a better jack. this one looks a bit too much like it was sitting in the ocean for a decade or two...
