For that kinda money, I would think a Gibson Historic reissue FB would be the way to go. They do put more attention to detail in those.
Im just going by the kind of money being mentioned here--I would probably buy one of those copies over a Gibson if it was notably cheaper, but I'd NEVER pay $4k for a non-Gibson FB.

Yeah, obviously I forgot to mention the Custom Shop. And a Gibson is a Gibson, that's true - no matter who builds them - if they build them good - and at the CS they do...
why wouldnt you just buy a Gibson? It seems like you'd lose some bucks if you wanted to re-sell it.
I'm looking for a Bird I don't wanna resell. I had this early FB III...

And it was neck heavy too, they all are.

The CS guitars are expencie and not especially good IMO. they are not build like they are supposed to: no brazillian rosewood, honduras mahogny, bumble bees, brass saddles etc

Yes, as matters stand, there is no Bird with the right parts and construction details in these days. You gotta make a compromise if you wanna play one.
And as long as there is no Bird with honduras mahogany and brazilian rosewood around, the CS or a good luthier still might be the only way to go.
Take it or leave it.

By the way: that Greco is on the bay again. Still no reply and information from the seller. I'll leave it - that one...

I have a 76 firebird (200 years independance)frets nearly worn out its awesome the neck pup is so warm , but they are so headstock heavy good to sit with but they fall when playin , you can get used to this and I have slowely great tone great looks very unique.
