Anyone seen one of these yet?
This happened to me last night at Guitar Center, Flint. I was in there with a couple of buddies and purchased a few things...well I made ament to one of my friends about a POD that was sitting there. It wasn't a very nicement, something to do with crap or something like that....but anyways the salesman heard me. He said that he would bet me $100 that I couldn't tell the difference between a POD running through a 4x12 and a Plexi. I almost died laughing. This ought to be the easiest hundy I've ever made.
I made thement to him that I'm a Marshall guy....he said that the POD was better than a Marshall. Ummm...whatever.
Sorry, I just don't like something that tries to sound like something else. Just because you stick a Porsche engine in an S10 doesn't make it a Porsche._________________Shred 'til yer Dead

Depends on the situation I think.......
As long as you're the player, even if you don't hear a difference in the actual sound, it's the FEEL that will be very noticable , at least to me. The modellers never quite feel right.
If you're only listening, blindfolded......could be trouble......recorded may be even more trouble but I doubt he'll do that to you on the fly!!
There's good tones in the PODs, just listen to Mark's clips that he's done with one. But that sort of thing just has no "give and take" for me when I try them, nothing "organic" about the playing experience like standing in front of the real tube amp. Like the modeller is predictable or something, and it shouldn't be.

That's exactly why I try not to use my multiFX rack unit anymore.
Sure the guitar is easier to play, it damn near plays itself, but you lose that organic feeling of just guitar, cord and amp. You lose the nuances. Volume and tone knobs are ineffective, everything sounds the same. In short, IT SOUNDS LIKE THE 80'S!
