I haven't been able to find time to build another amp so I ended up buying a Metro amp off of one of the members here. (Charvel Pointy Head) Anyhow, I'm going to do some of my own modding to it. First off I'll be putting in some NOS mustards that have been in a JTM 45 metro board, which I never installed in the amp because I sold it. (not really modding, just an up grade) I was thinking about getting the metro power supply w/low voltage option and I also wanted to lower the filtering. I was looking through Rockstahs diagrams and came across a EVH filter cap drawing. I think I will try it. I want something that will sound a little different than my '71 Superlead. Any other ideas?

The '69 layout, to me, seems an improvement over the "not quite through ripping off Fender" of the earlier ones, with the filter caps under the chassis and all on a seperate board. I think that the tone that best suits my ears concerning 2 gain stage S. Lead amps is the '69 circuit(split cathode,.0022u coupler,.022 PI caps) combined with the lower filtering of the 67-early 68. I also like the S. Bass tone stack(56k, 250pf). This circuit with a good attenuater and a good PPIMV, makes for a versatile amp. It is basically what rgalpin has, except he has no ppimv.

Thanks, I noticed that when I expanded the pic in bitmap form. I will more than likely also change the P.I. caps to .1's Should I take the pre filter down to 16uf or should I just go to 32uf? Will the lower filtering cause ghosting to be more present? Were does most ghosting occur, pre or power section?Flames1950 wrote:In case you can't quite see it in that drawing, be sure only one side of each of the dual 32 cap cans is hooked up.
