The Les Paul Traditional

Post by Facetious11 » Sun Jun 01, 2008 2:45 pm

IF you havent already heard, Gibson is releasing a new Les Paul called the The Les Paul Traditional. It sounds like the Les Paul most people wish the standards were like. It has a better flame (more like a 59 flame) it is cheaper, it uses the speed nobs (which I love alot better), not chambered, 50's neck, the Plek system thing. The question is, does it follow through....? I am very interested in this guitar, it would save me money if it is good instead of jumping for a Custom shop Les Paul.

Yeah.... Got the Gibson e-mail flyer and saw that. Does look good.
Don't particularly care for the '57 pickups. Much rather have the BurstBuckers 1&2
The Plek thing is cool. Not chambered but it does say "relieved"

Time will tell ofcourse but if it falls short, the V.O.S.'s are exceptional. Only issue is with the faux BumbleBee Capacitors... Pretty minor if you ask me.

Would like to try the Warren Haynes. That also looks good.

I wonder which meaning the word "relieved" in the Gibson advertising has?
Maybe they have "relieved" the Bodies with the friendly help of some woodworms? ;o)

Many people call the releived thing "swiss cheese" I think what they mean my that, is instead of chambering it, they just put little holes in the body, but im not sure. I always thought that is what chambereing was, but im probably wrong :D

Yeah I thought chambering is when a cavity is cut out to make it almost like a hollow body in some spots but with no holes in the top while relieving is when they just drill some holes in a bunch of spots to get the weight down.

So how many f'n LP models does that make now?

To me, it's ridiculous that you have the Standard, the Historic, the Deluxe, the VOS, the this the that...Fender,too.

I agree, there should be ONE LES PAUL STANDARD!

Produce a bit less and make them better quality. Its not like the world is short of Les Pauls.
