Build own preamp

Post by Ricky Lee » Fri Jun 03, 2005 4:22 am

Anybody here got any ideas on building a preamp, something along the lines of a JMP-1? Where to get parts, such as rackable chassis, board, readable schematics for dummies like me etc... I just built my first Metro and it's killer, so a preamp should be a little easier, I would think.
May the good Lord take a liking to you!

We designed an SLO preamp on the SLO thread. Bogner preamp too. If you prefer one or two channels you dont have to use any comlicated multi relay diode clipping circuits like the JMP1. You can use any circuit you want. I dont know where to get trannys that fit in one or two rack spaces. Im sure Hammon Torriodal trannys would work if a bit expensive. Those trannys arent built with filament windings. Theyre built with a primary HV winding and a second winding many times at 12V but in most cases youl have to run DC for the filaments. Mouser has everything you need. You can also get stuff at Metro and hoffman, though they mostly have values from the kits they sell, and the other usual places.
