Different 50 Watt Layout?
What's up with the 50 watt board layout? I built my 50 watt 1987 about 4 years ago and it has four diodes in the rectifier section, I think? I see the 50 watt kits now just have one diode at the far right and a board mounted filter cap in the middle? Why the difference?

68 spec, plus it makes more money selling that square rectifier as opposed to the for diodes.

I think George wanted it to be late 68 early 69 spec which had flying diodes off the PT to the fuse holder - less than ideal so he pinched an idea from the 100watters which had a chassis mounted block rectifier (I do not believe any stock 50watters ever used this although my '70 JMP50 had a board mounted block).

Although I understand, in looking at the 50 watt Step by step instructions, I see nothing about diode or rectifier installation? I am cornfused.

Re: Different 50 Watt Layout?
Athough I do not have it to hand today I am pretty sure the latest instructions do have the bit about using the chassis hole to mount the diode block and twisting the HT wires leading up to it then running the rectified HT feed to the mains cap and fuse.Dax-The-Ax wrote:Although I understand, in looking at the 50 watt Step by step instructions, I see nothing about diode or rectifier installation? I see it now, had no idea to look on the side, that's a nice place for it, though, Thanks for the info.
