Busted by Murphy's Law

This is just too weird, so I thought I'd pass it along.

Lately I've been buying/repairing/selling amps to make a few bucks to pay for my own amp/speaker projects. The last one I sold was a Crate V50 chassis that just went away on Sunday. When I got it, it had a shorted UF diode in the switching PS, that had also taken out a 22 ohm 1 watt MO resistor. I don't have a lot of parts, so I had to order both, a dozen UF's (handy replacements for almost any diode) and a pair of resistors, just in case it fried again on startup.

As I said, I got it working, and sent it off to it's new owner on Sunday, and included the parts I'd changed, and just to be a good guy, an extra diode and the second resistor, just in case he had the same problem again in the future.

Last night (Tue) I paid $5. for my next project. A near mint Peavey Bandit 65 with an intermittent breakup problem. Took it apart today, and of everything on the board, I could only see one component that was burned. Yup, a 22 ohm 1 watt MO resistor, just like the one that I had sent away just days ago, expecting to never need one (sort of an odd value) again.

I really think that the V in V50 must stand for Voodoo or something, because that was actually the second bit of strange coincidence involving it. When I bought the 12 diodes I mentioned, I was paying for them and the total he gave me seemed too low, so while he was making my change, I checked the receipt and saw that he had only charged me for 1 diode instead of 12. I pointed it out to him, and he said not to worry about it, they didn't cost them much anyhow. (Basically he didn't want to bother canceling/redoing the transaction.)

It wasn't until I got home and looked at the receipt again that I realized he had given me 11 free diodes, and the date was 11-11-11.
