76' 2203 Farting Out

Post by Dax-The-Ax » Thu Nov 25, 2004 4:05 pm

My 76' 2203 sounds great until about volume 5. Anything louder and the amp starts crackling and farting and at full volume the thing damn near cuts all the way out. I've changed all tubes to no avail. Filter caps are only 2 years old with minimal use. Any ideas? Have also switched cabs and the speakers are fine.

Well, she completely farted out. At full volume the amp is bedroom level. Does this sound like a filter cap, board component or Transformer failure?

Does this thing have an Exf loop?

It chould be a bad jack, or it could be as simple as spraying the pots. Or you could have a bad resistor that is failing.
