Went through Augusta,SC & GA. James Brown story

Post by mightymike » Sat Dec 30, 2006 10:24 am

Me, my future-ex wife, and my eldest son went up to the Cherokee Indian reservation for a couple days. Had a blast.

On the way back we went through the main drag in Augusta yesterday. I forget the name of the street, but there is a Statue of James Brown, and there were crowds around it, and his music was being played throught the streets. From the stores.

The Imperial theatre had some tribute too.

It's weird, because the reason everyone was there was saddening, but his music was playing through the streets, and the sadness turned more into a celebration of his life.
It was magical.

That town wasn't Augusta, anymore. It was James Brownville.
Boy was that man loved. It was really touching.

We didn't know he was from there. We were just on our way home, and made a detour through there.
