My tone search

Post by Guitar-Sam » Wed Jan 31, 2007 11:43 pm

K guys I'm starting to come to a conclusion on tone.I've been playin quiet awhile and from day one had the pickyiest ear on earth for treble fizzies.......drives me nutz!!!
I've bought and sold and borrowed and played allot of amps.Been through allot of crappy amps in search of "that tone"and "pure clean no fizzyness".I've taken decent sounding amps and made the sound worse with the wrong tubes and adjustments...then not been able to evan get it back were I had it in the first place  .Been told I should build my own,mod my own, have it modded etc etc etc...
I envy guys that can get a decent amp dial it up and play it and enjoy it.NO!!!!!!!....I have "One more tube change/knob turn will perfect it"syndrome.
I finaly found an amp that realy makes me play and play hard.I can dial up the right sound.....just its a hair fizzy(to me....).I'd like to try a better speaker like a Scumback or real Greenback for there warmer treble and compare a few tubes against stock.
But when is it time to say "Screw it its good enough, don't fuck with it anymore".
Yea we should all own 40 amps for recording but I'm looking for my "main sound" I can borrow and rent overdub amps for studio work.
I'm starting to think though that a main amp is like a steady girlfreind.......I want one that doesn't talk about stupid shit, cooks, cleans, drinks beer, plays guitar and likes hotrods.......but one that I have something in common with, get along with and doesn't talk about stupid shit is good enough.
Yea another open ended question and stupid anology but somebody say something to make me feel good...........

Thanks :D :P
Its the new little 15W orange.Something about the mids are what I've allways failed to get out of every Marshall I've owned/played.
I'm sure a higher end Orange would be the ticket but thats waayyyy outta budget here. But evan w/ JJs its got something I like in the mids allot.
Anyways I was half drunk when I posted this.......an hour and a few beers later I decided it to be a good idea to ballbust some romance chat rooms.........
