Yeah ... you're right. It's a Marshall head.
I give you four options : JCM 2000 - JCM 900 - JCM 800 - Plexi.

Re: TSL better then my plexi?
You're right once more, Keano !
It was so easy because of this thread ... what do you think about the sound ? It's a very raw sound : no treatments and tricks in recording. Just guitar, amp, cabinet (2x12 G12H) and SM57.
People says DSL is a "mosquito sounding" ...
I don't think it's a Metropoulos amp or similar but still suitable for classic sounds, nothing more.

Re: TSL better then my plexi?
I said DSL because it has a certain vintagey tone and has this certain sound hard to definite that older amps have but.... it also has a certain preamp distortion that the JCM2000 have. Honestly it sounds great. I like DSL I just wish the 2nd channel was voiced closer to the green channel.

Do you think the channels have so different sound ? I don't think that.
Obviously, more gain stages makes sound with a little bit less bass freqs and more mids but it's still right.

sorry the red channel lacks low end when switching. It is a known problem. I think there maybe a mod for it.

Re: TSL better then my plexi?
Take a listenig to these two examples and let me know ...
The first one (Highway crunch) is the clean channel ; the second one (Highway distorted) is the second channel.

Re: TSL better then my plexi?
Notice on the first page that the "1st amp" sounded better UNTIL you told them it was infact the TSL? Knowing which amp it was changed their perception of sound.
I think both amps sound KILLER. PERIOD. Neither is better, just slightly different.
I'd say try recording all the amps at equal volume. Get the power tubes in the modern amps cooking a little and back off on the preamp gain a tad.

Yeah both channels sound good. what were your settings and is it 50 or 100? I always get a thin red channel tone compared to the green. You were on OD1 right?

Re: TSL better then my plexi?
It's a DSL100 one. Settings are : bass 5 middle 10 treble 3 presence 5.
Like you can listen to, tone difference about two channels is just the gain structure.
I don't know how most people say DSL100 is a "mosquito sounding" amp.
