Metro JTM45/100 + '78 LP Custom = Holiday Glee!

Post by gutpile » Mon Dec 29, 2008 8:23 pm

Took a break from building to lay this down... This is 100% dry, I only panned the tracks... I learned both parts of the solo a few minutes before I recorded so it is still a little rough... I used my Metro JTM45/100, '78 LP Custom, Metro B Cab (G12M 20w Heritage Celestion), Cascade Fathead Mic, Presonus Firebox, and Reaper software... I still need to EQ it a little, redo the solo, and add the ending solo... but I had fun anyways and ran out of time... It is hard to find time to do this fun stuff when I am not on vacation! The tune is Bad Company's Can't Get Enough... Happy Holidays!

Mike

EDIT: Slightly EQ'ed, Reverb'ed and Delay'ed (hardly noticable but just enough :D ...)

that sounds kickass dude! i had to try & belt out a verse or so along with it. i still love that old BC stuff, & Mott the Hoople & the like. very fond memories for sure. Recording is quite good too. It's amazing how close we can get with our little daws when you think how much equipment ($) it took back in those days.

Yeah, vacation...I had strept throat for a f'n week :x  just getting over the pain in my ears now.

Great tine, mikey. Flat out or attenuator / master?

Next try "Movin On" from the same album. Def one of may favorites and a fun song to play in the same vein.

Every time you post a clip, I post pretty much the same reply: "Sounds awesome. I need to buy a Fathead." Then I get back to the 45/100, crank it, and forget all about recording! Harmonized Les Pauls always hit me like a choir of angels. Thanks for the gift-clip, Mike!

Thanks guys! I wish I had more time to have this much fun! I had it attenuated @ -4db on the hotplate, my cab only has 80 watts worth of speakers so I try not to get too reckless! The only time I open it up without attenuation is when I have it plugged into the full stack!!! Last time I did that I swore I saw the deer head on my wall nodding to the beat and the musky next to it was clapping his flippers! Here is the link to the backing track I used: http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/play/ ... enough.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and here is another site with a bunch more http://www.guitarbt.com/index.php?page=dl_list" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .... My goal over vacation is to record the same exact thing with each of my amps and the same mic placement (still hasn't been moved)... I think you will be able to hear very distinct differences between them... Thanks for listening and have a great New Year's!!

Getting to play your own setup of choice: priceless

With this list and your note about your wife, are you also saying you also needed balls to make this recording? The tone has plenty of balls.

But hey: none of this is taking food off the table. You have to be your own man. Be hip to the score. Encourage her to do well at the things she likes too. It makes life what it is.

You hit the nail on the head! my wife couldn't be cooler about my hobbies... She's is into running marathons that take her all over the U.S. and I like to go to amp shows, NAMM shows, etc... It works out really well... we have a nice balance that has made me feel pretty lucky over the last 15 years! :D :D
