Re: Tech listings, for repairs, mods, builds ect.
Wilder Amplification here in Rohnert Park California. San Francisco bay area, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Contra Costa, as well as all other north, south, and east bay customers. We build our own models as well as provide repair and modification services, and Metro kit assembly/troubleshooting/repair as well. Can also provide installation services for the SDM effects loop kits featured here at MetroAmp.
I've been an amp builder/tweaker/modder for about 13 years now (with a total of 18 years experience in electronics), primarily for my own stuff but have just recently decided to go into business with it. Very well versed in George's kits. Can assemble them in about a week for a flat fee and my work is VERY neat. Also very well versed in converting reissue amps to point to point/era correct circuitry, transformer swaps, etc etc. Optional tonally transparent modernizations available for Metro kits such as converting from a hardwired to a detatchable power chord, additional fuse protection in the event of a power tube short, and special muting circuitry that makes the amp dead quiet when nothing is plugged into it.
Also manufacture custom turret boards as well.
Here is a pic of my work I did on a Bluesbreaker Reissue rebuild that I set up with a Blackface opto-tremolo. Custom turret board manufactured/assembled in-house.
Our specialty though is in high gain. Can mod Super Leads and 2203s for 80s era high gain. Also have a new mod for the DSL/TSL amps that's been a big hit.
Here are some soundclips of my work -

Re: Tech listings, for repairs, mods, builds ect.
wow, nobody in the UK posted here yet - any UK amp work, send it my way. I've been playing guitar for 20 years, and modding/building amps for ten years.
Kits are no problem - my main line of work is through custom one-offs and mods to existing amps (hotrodding), video clips...

Re: Tech listings, for repairs, mods, builds ect.
Ampcabinets.net (they stole my .com and I am fighting to get it back...I used to, and still do business under that name and I have a copyright and trademarks on it), since 1995
Anyway I do restorations, recovers, new builds, makeovers, rebuilds and repairs on tube amps, including re-filtering, re-tubing and re-biasing. I have also helped others with their builds, for minimal fees or sometimes nothing, depending on how you hit me.
I also, restraighten cabinets, and build new cabinets for the right price. My cabinets are solid #1 pine, no knotholes, ever, and dovetailed for straighteness and trueness. Absolutely NO particle board builds.
My work is excellant.
Not to say I don't get stumped once in a while, but rarely.
I charge a flat fee for kit builds, and 40 an hour on repairs and bench work.
I am in west texas, although I would rather be in Atlanta, or some other place.
No checks, no credit cards and no walk-aways without paying at the time service is rendered.
There a few bands I won't even work for as they walked away without paying, and after years, still haven't paid and they are still working bands. Fool me once, etc............

I only know one person that lives in the Portland metro area (portland and all the crappy surrounding like beaverton aloha in the sw. and then on the other side of the willamette like milwaukee, etc,, that I would deem competent otherwise you might have to take a trip south to Salem or Eugene . There were a couple of places though I remember inner sound in se, and there was one close to the Morrison bridge, close to an old surpluses store called radar that did general repair, forget the name.greg d wrote:Im looking for a Marshall amp repair guy in Portland Ore. ??????????????? thanks
