Just got back from vegas. Saw guns on Friday! They killed it. Axl sounded great the whole time. I couldnt see any heads, just slash's cabs. But his tone was so good. Sounded way better than any of his tones the last few years. His scom tone was right on the money, made my night. I got up super close and was able to get a few good photos. Ill try to post them somewhere and add a link.

Thought I'd play around with the resistors around the power tubes. Here's a Nightrain clip with the control grid (swamper) resistors at 3k3 instead of the typical 5k6. I eventually want to end up around 1k5 or 2k2 I think. Dropping the resistance seemed to lower the noise floor slightly.

Wow new look.

Just got hold of an 87 mij boss sd1. Never been tampered inside.
The one with the blue triped diod zeners 1s1558.

Iv always wondered how slash got his wha effect in scom without being in too much effect.
I dont believe that he used the pedal infront of the amp otherwise he would have gotten full wha effect.

One theory i have in mind is they might have used the wha pedal in the mixers send loops and parallel the signal to the orginal dry signal.
By connecting the wha to the mixer instead would give them the full control of amount of the effects using the fx send knobs on the channel of the mixer.

Could explain solo of the scom didnt have too much wha effect but still evident.

Hello everybody, I'm still working in my JTM60 to sould like AFD tone (I had made lot of changes there and wasn't easy at all). I'm having some trouble with what I think is some oscillation, I'm not sure if I should try to roll off high frequencies on the 1st stage or could be better if I do that in 2nd or 3rd stage.
I'm using 33k as grid stopper, but is not attached to the pin of the socket because the JTM60 has the tube sockets on the pcb. I also have a 220p cap over 1st plate resistor. I would like to know if you ever had a similar issue and how did you solved that.

This is a demo I have record with my amp and a 1x12 cabinet.

Do you have a bright cap? If so remove it and see if that changea anything. Yank your wires around and see if it helps. Tone stack wires too.

Hi Hervis, I remember that I had done that before but tone was different and yes the amp was stable, also I forgot to mention that the problem start with gain on 4.

I would chopstick your wires with the cap on the and see what happens. Ive had luck doing that. Around your input and tone stack wires. Try some caps on your other plates too to see of it helps. Are you using shielded cables on all your grid runs?

Lol hard to tell whats going on in there. I would chopstick around your added caps and wires surrounding them when the noise is present and see if the pitch changes
