Thought I'd at least better log in and reset my connections. I actually forgot my password........
I'm still working to get some more material up here, either about West Coast, or Jimi. Little short of time just now.

I like those little oscilloscopes on the left that tell you something. It must be either that you are in an elevator going down fast with your subject, or else it represents somebody reading the text on the subject real fast. Either way it makes you want to post more........

Re: Jimi Hendrix' Gear and Mods at West Coast Organ and Amp
I had been up at the mountain cabin but had to dodge a lightening bolt during a furious storm, by jumping off a small cliff. Unfortunately I broke my ankle in the fall and had to crawl a half mile to the cabin on my hands and knees. The spot where I had been standing took a direct strike!
I just had the operation to screw my ankle back together. Now that has a lot to do with Jimi and his gear doesn't it?
The X-rays of my ankle with the screws in it are pretty cool though. Xplorer could post them if anyone is interested. This will have to do until I can get back to some Jimi stuff, and I have had some new material come in which I hope to post soon. Right now it's too painful to sit at the computer for more than a few minutes.

Didn't your mama teach you to not stand outside during a thunderstorm!...lol. Seriously, I hope the ankle heals without any long term problems.

Oh my god, thats a very strange story there Dave loll.
Take your time to rest and heal, and welcome to the broken bones club
.
Had a broken femur with bone sticking outside my body and 2 break at the pelvis about 12 years ago. from a car/quad crash(obviously i was on the quad, not the car).

Hey thanks for the good wishes! No matter how wild your story is, somebody else has one that just outdoes your own. Bones sticking out?? OMG, I'm glad it didn't get that bad, it was torture enough just crawling back to the cabin. Just can't imagine what some folks have gone through.
Yeah, I'll send a pic of my West Coast modded ankle to Xplorer. It almost looks like it was put together by a backyard mechanic!
The lightening bolt was awesome beyond belief, like being inside one of Jimi's EL34s when it arced into meltdown. Ankle or not, I'm lucky I got away from it. And I was all alone unfortunately. Fortunately I had three hydrocodone tabs in my first aid kit to help me stand the pain till I could get somebody to help me, about 24 hours later.
Marshall amps are WAY more fun than this!

Just got my sutures removed. I'm gonna head back up that mountain where I almost got fried and do a little R&R. Docs say I may be able to walk with a big boot in about a month. When I get back (or if) I have some nice West Coast stuff to share. Keep amping till then.......

Re: Jimi Hendrix' Gear and Mods at West Coast Organ and Amp
Well I made it back in one piece, wanted to comment on the video JC did covering his adaptation of the tube modulator. Very impressive, and a good piece of engineering. The folks here should be very grateful for the opportunity to see such a thing unfold before their very eyes and ears. It's easy to see why Jimi was keen to get ahold of that sound; he surely would have had he lived and had we an opportunity to get together during 1970.
The first thing I'll try to dig out is an interview with Jerry Sanders regarding how West Coast got started and how we came to work on Jimi's gear. Since this is particularly Jimi related it will go on to this topic in a meaningful way.

Re: Jimi Hendrix' Gear and Mods at West Coast Organ and Amp
Okay, I think the first thing will be the Wah pedal I made for Jimi in 1970. I'm getting that going now, and I'll see if Xplorer can break out of his sweet embraces long enough to post some pics.
There is a discussion of Wahs and dating in an older thread (2009 I think) on this forum, with SpaceAce and others, eventually ending up with Geoffrey Teese making the qualification.
Thanks to that link I was also able to contact Mr. Teese to get the proper timeline for the components I used in Jimi's pedal. It would have been early 1970.
We've been talking about this for a while so I thought I'd get that up and running. A real West Coast Wah Wah, still intact after all these years.
