Tele GAS...

Post by mwm523 » Mon Mar 10, 2008 11:21 pm

I'm GASsing for a Telecaster at the moment, and I've been eyeing up the Highway One Tele and the Highway One Texas Tele. Anyone have experience with this guitar or have any recommendations? It's USA made for a good price.

I think I'm going to stop at GC tomorrow and play one.

Nice guitars IMHO. Word of caution, the finish is not "real" nitro, outside of that, they are fine.

I got one (Highway 1) and can't be happier... I buffed the shit out of the finish (with an electric car polisher) and really got it to shine, then equipped a Will Ray b-bender and threw in some Fralins and an RS Kit... pure rock and roll 8) ... plays outstanding and the neck is among the best tele's I've played! can't beat the price! great guitar! here are some pics...

Both of these are very nice Teles. The Texas Tele is swamp ash, and has higher output pickups. If you want twang, that

I got 2 Highway One's. Put Duncan Antiguities in one and made the other into a Beck/ Duncan TeleGib. The finish IS nitro but the sealer underneath is poly. Lacquer thinner will move the nitro but not the sealer.

I used the stewmac tele bridge for like $30. I then used a dremel to grind down the back so the strings wouldn't touch.

It works well. The saddles have to be up high to get good string pressure and neck angle needs to be changed a tad but thats not really a problem.

I need to slice off the excess intonation screws aswell since when its properly intonated there is like 2 inches poking out or something. Its on such a big angle because of the saddle height that they are above the string height.

This is my favorite tele! :D

You will notice that she's equipped with some unusual options: Ebony headstock, Gold hardware, Sequine Blue body coat and extra high output Humbuckers!
