Best DVD burning software?

Post by OnTheFritz » Thu Feb 22, 2007 5:08 pm

Can anybody recommend a good software product for copying DVD's?
I just bought a burner, and it comes with a limited version of Nero, but I know there's gotta be something better out there.
Does the latest Roxio allow you to copy DVD's?
Thanks in advance for any info!

Good question. I've been using DVD Shrink but it won't handle the Sony DVD format. And I haven't seen a newer version out there anywhere, I've had this version for about two years!!!

I use a combination of DVD XCOPY platinum and ANYDVD,
I have to update anydvd on a regular basis to keep up with ever changing dvd formats.

Theres a program called DVDFab.

Does everything all in one step. Sidesteps all the protection too.

I use

Be careful with XCopy. It's not the original company. I had the orginal and when I went to install on a new machine I needed a new password and the link was none existant. The new owners offered me a "small fee" to upgarde to the new version which I did. It worked but I needed a third party copy unprotect. Got that and it worked. went to burn a disc s few weeks later ans none of them work without another upgrade now. What BULLSHIT.

You need DVD Decrypter, DVD shrink, and Nero. I am not sure if the limited copy of Nero works, and you will have to hunt for DVD Decrypter but install files are still around on the net.

Install Decrypter and Shrink as well as Nero onto your computer.

Insert the DVD you wish to "archive" into your burner.

Close out any programs that open when you insert the dvd.

Open Shrink, and click on Open Disk. Shrink will analyze the disk and then will ask you what region the disk is from so that it will decrypt the protection off of it.(this will also make the files region free)

You will then see all of the chapters in the left hand pane, on the right hand pane it will show you all the language encoding the disk will have on it. I usually de-select any non-English encoding.

Click on Back up disk, you will be asked where you want to save the files to. I usually choose the same drive as the dvd burner. Click OK and let it do its thng. Once it is done it will ask you to insert a blank DVD disk into the burner. Do this..... The program will self realize that there is a new disk in the drive and then continue to burn the files to disk.

Shrink will spit the disk out once it is done.

Shrink uses Decrypter to decode the region and protection encoding the original disk has been encoded with, then use Nero to burn the disk.

I have archived over 100 dvd's this way and it has NEVER stumbled or not worked.

These program will not work on HD-DVD or Blue Ray disks.
