Problem with a bandmate...

Had a gig Friday where our keyboard player brought in his buddy, a bassist, to play since he was on keyboards. As I'm setting up my head and cab, the bass player told me to turn on my amp, but I told him I didn't have it connected to the cab yet, he looks at me like I'm stupid and insists I turn it on. I explained to him why it's not a good idea (putting it lightly) to have an amp on w/o a load b/c of the transformers, but he insisted I didn't know what I was talking about. Anyone else ever deal w/guys like this? I haven't built a 12 series kit

but I'm glad I know the basic dos and donts.

Yes. I've dealt with people like this not bandmates per se but hecklers and know-it-alls...here's what you do

This guy you described sounds like he either is a crack addict or his mom dropped him on his head when he was little.

People often take one's kindness as weakness and these people look for 'victims' to make themselves feel of some worth.

Don't waste your time on this cheese dick by explaining the do's and dont's...simply stated just kick your keyboard player right in the nuts for bringing an ass into your back yard.

Thanks for the support guys, I appreciate it. We were there about an hour before the "official" soundcheck even started, plenty of time to tweak things. The actual gig went fine, but setting up was frustrating. Telling people to keep their hands off of my gear is something I would expect from someone in the audience wanting to "help" after a show...even though the bassist apologies for touching my amp, he or the keyboard player is going to be talked to about common courtesy regarding gear.

Man, i'd tell your keyboard player that unless his mate wants to take his teeth home in a glass, he should shut the f*** up. I hate people like that.

Love guys like that. I usually look them square in the eye with my best psychotic look and tell them demons told me if anyone touches my gear I have to carve out their heart with a dull knife, Aztec style. And I'm not kidding. Usually works.
