Hey Mark,

Cashiers check's are good. Western Union has worked well for me on high ticket items as well. I know alot of folks that charge buyer's 3.8% or round off to 4% for paypal seller fees. Put something like "for paypal payments contact seller first" and then explain "your" paypal terms. I see nothing wrong with this as long as the buyer understands the terms up front. Many buyers are happy to pay your seller fees.

I hope that helps..

Cheers,

Eric

I think a Postal Money order is only good for like $700 or $750 - so the buyer would need to buy two,

The crappy thing is that IF you use PAYPAL, you get hit not only with the 3.5% eBay fees, but also the 3% or so PAYPAL fees. All the fees have gone up in the past couple of years - kinda sux. I just realized this recently when I sold a bunch of motorcycle parts.

D'OH!

Mark I have quite a few people who pass the paypal fees onto the buyer. I just sold a guitar on ebay and passed shipping and paypal to buyer. Their fees are getting rediculous.

You'll get much higher bids if you just except PayPal. Many people won't even bid if you wont except PayPal. It protects the buyer and the seller. What are you going to do if someone sends you a phony cashiers check? It can take 4 weeks or more for the bank to find out and they will just take your money you got nothing to say about it. With PayPal that won't happen. People feel comfortable and safe with PayPal and are willing to bid higher and can use credit cards, it isn't as easy for some people to get a loan for a money order as use their credit card. You'll loose way more then the cost of fees by not accepting PayPal.

This is true. I feel better and bid higher with Paypal. I even have the buyer credit if I feel really impulsive!

The 3% does suck. But I am used to it. Credit cards are only slightly less to accept by the time the everyone takes their cut. i.e. processor, merchant account.
