Been a fan since I first heard him in 71...seen him 6 times in concert, too. Nothing like trying to figure out what he's doing from the 5th row...it's still not close enough, by the way!

Now we only need Yngwie Dave to chime in and that will be the five of us!
I agree guys. I've seen him a bunch of times here in CA and NY. Nothing worse than fifth row. I've given up the analysis and just watch, listen and enjoy what the guy can do with a guitar. I liked the last tour. He played songs from throughout his career. I shit when he opened with Beck's Bolero.

You guys ever see this? Part of Martin Scorcese's Blues box set. Great stuff, JB playing with Van Morrison, Tom Jones, Lulu. JB shows some pretty good jazz chops and a bitchin blues. TJ wails on Lawdy Miss Lawdy

how cool! i was never that big on clapton, but was way into jimmy page way back when, but in my humble opinion, JB was as has been said always growing & innovating. he is in a class by himself in many respects.

Yes twice I saw him,the JBG II and BBA.At the BBA gig I was so close I could have reached out to tune his guitar and kept my place even after drinking 2-3 pints of Guinness and having to pee,but my love and dedication kept me in my standing room only position the whole gig.
Plus the scat blues unaccompanied that he played while they changed Bogart's bass amp, priceless, yes and it was a certain Oxblood colored guitar as well,I seem to remember. If Jeff was a drag racing car,he would have to run in his own class,as no one can run with him and keep up,or change gears as many times as he does musically speaking.Happ B'Day Jeff, you are in the Mount Rushmore of guitar legends that's for sure...

Saw that tour at Madison Square Garden, 3rd row. "Going Down" encore was the LOUDEST FUCKIN THING I EVER HEARD. JB and SRV were SCREAMING!Star*Guitar wrote:I saw Beck with SRV on tour in 1988...that was a great concert! I've been a beck fan since the 60's-70's for crying out loud. He has always been in the thick of it. One of my favs too. By the way...Terry Bozio was the drummer in 1988 too. Man Oh Man!!!
I'm still a little deaf....

Mike,Jeff credits that tour with SRV as the catalyst that put him over the edge tinnitus wise, unfortunately. This is something I have been afflicted with since the mid eighties,I don't talk about it much but it's always with me.
Jeff is the toatal master of harmonic melody, his guitar has a unique voice.Soon I wll write an appreciation of Jeff and what he has meant and still means to me
