From ALL OUT GUITAR a writer chooses his favorite guitarists of all time and guess what,I pretty much agree, especially when it gets to #1

How old is that writer? Sounds he was only alive from 1980 to 2000. Maybe I missed something. Was the title of the article "Best Hair Metal guitarists of all time" I have to say I total and in full disagree with his choices for "All Time"

Dear Mr. Journalist, it is Timmons and Luthaker.

At least get the spelling right.

Unbelieveable. That's what you get for playing a BC Rich.

In the writers defensive, I think this is what happens to brain cells after to much sniffing of hair spray, which he most surely has done. :D

Ok, the Mystery 2nd slot goes to whom? Seeing that first slot is equal, who is #2?

Oh whoever slagged BC Rich, Rick Derringer and Joe Perry among others played BC Rich's. Both of which are no guitar slouchs.

Hey Eargasm, I don't thing grunge was that bad of an era .I liked Nirvana,Love Alice in Chains,Soundgarden rocks,Stone temple pilots was alright. And althogh I agree that not everyone shares my opinion on this(& thats fine) I do love everything from Charlie Patton & Robert Johnson to Allman Bros. & ZZ Topp to Jimi,SRV and even Pantara & Slayer.I'm not a big fan of Yngie Malmstien but I could never say is not a great guitar player,Just not my style IMHO.In other words I think most anyone has their favs and thats cool I just like to have a wide range of players to get inspired from probably like most here. Thanks to all. Chad

Amen Brother!

Page? Well now, let's stack Led Zeppelins album sales against any of the bands that top 20 guitar crowd was part of (even EVH) case closed. I've said it once and I'll say it again; who guitar players think is the best player and who the rest of the world thinks is the best guitar players is usually different.

not been seen before the 80's in the Rock and Roll world
Zappa, Progressive rock(King Crimson, Yes, Rush, etc.), Jeff Beck, Richie Blackmore....

I do get your point, the bar was lifted in the 80's, if you wanted to be a guitar player at that time, there was a "level" of technique you had to master. The third solo I ever learned was Over the Mountain, it took me almost a year to truly master it, and many, many hours. Well spent I might add.

I liked some of the "Grunge" period, and felt it was overdue, as well as some of the "underground" stuff happening in the 80's, but, thats a whole other thread....
